It Is Written

Notice that in the temptations, every time Jesus replies to Satan, he begins by saying, "It is written..." 

Now read 1 Nephi15:24 in that context:  And I said unto them that it was the word of God; and whoso would hearken unto the word of God, and would hold fast unto it, they would never perish; neither could the temptations and the fiery darts of the adversary overpower them unto blindness, to lead them away to destruction.

The Savior turned to the scriptures for strength when face to face with the devil and overcame his temptations each time.  1 Nephi 15:24 tells us that we can gain strength to resist temptation as we hearken to the scriptures, or the word of God, and hold fast to them.
