A BIBLE STORY PROBLEM (OR WHAT THE HECK IS A FIRKIN?)

A BIBLE STORY PROBLEM

(Or What the Heck Is A Firkin?)

Read the story about when Jesus turned water into wine in John 2. Be sure to read the footnote in verse 4 for what Joseph Smith said Jesus really said to his mother, so you will know he wasn’t rude to her.  (It wasn’t rude for him to call her “Woman” because back in those days it was like saying “Ma’am.”)

Now for the story problem:
If 1 firkin = 9 gallons and Jesus told the servants to fill 6 waterpots that were between 2-3 firkins each, how much wine did Jesus make for the wedding feast?___________________________

What do you think this story tells us about Jesus?  When we ask for something in our prayers, do you think Jesus will give us the smallest amount he can, or do you think He will give us as much as He can?

This story helps us know how much Jesus loves us!
A w-h-o-l-e bunch!

If you want to do some more math, try to find these answers:
How many firkins of wine did Jesus make?__________________
How many kilderkins?________________
How many barrels?__________________
How many hogsheads?_______________

One Firkin is 9 Gallons.
One Kilderkin is 2 Firkins or 18 Gallons.
One Barrel is 2 Kilderkins or 36 Gallons.
One Hogshead is 63 Gallons
